My Review :
I first knew about Sing Me to Sleep from my friend recommendation. The blurb honestly gave me an impression of another ugly-turn-to-beautiful-and-all-man-kneel-before-her novel. Turned out I was fooled.

Sing Me to Sleep deals with insecurity, self-esteem, and peer-pressure.
Our main character, Beth, was an ugly girl chosen to be a choir soloist thanks to her beautiful voice. But became a soloist has it price. The main stage. The light. The attention. And because of all that, one of Beth choir member gave her a total makeover, changing her into a Beauty.

But because of her own father had called her "Damn ugly" in the past, Beth always viewed herself as an ugly, worthless girl. But that is until she meet Derek. He made Beth look at world the way she never had before, teaching her to appreciate herself, and slowly made her habit of underestimating herself disappeared.

For me, Beth character was great, deep with complex, and I could totally relate to her inner struggle. Sure, she was all clingy to Derek, but I could understand that, because she used t be ugly and that was her first boyfriend. But sometimes, I didn't understand her when Derek was moody and annoying and she was still all over him, not mad at all.
On another side, Derek, was a bit unstable. He's sometimes nice, sweet, and all that, while another time he's moody, pushy, overly confident, etc.
Beth's the one and only best friend, Scott, was another thing. I didn't like him very much, because I think that Scott was too self-oriented. But I don't know, maybe that's just me.

Overall, I have to say that the story was great. It made me cry, I admit. But the character, and how the story ended wasn't too great for me personally. So, I had to give this 3 star. But try it if you love Contemporary and tearjerker romance. It was great, but the character was not really.
